Playground Review: Skykomish River Park, Monroe, WA

Skykomish River Park is huge, and conveniently located in Monroe’s Civic Center. The playground area isn’t very big, but there are grassy fields a plenty, a fenced in dog park (“Wiggly Field”), year-round restrooms, drinking fountains, and plenty of covered picnic areas. This park even has secluded river access if you walk past Wiggly field’s parking lot.Truck ClimberThe playground part has a small climber for older toddlers and up, while the big climber is really for the Kindergarten and older set. The fall zone is all rather large wood chips, so don’t let your baby or young toddler roam around freely or he/she will probably sneak a mouthful of wood chips (a.k.a. choking hazards). The area is not fenced in and does not have a sand play space, but there is a nice four square court for those who enjoy that game, and plenty of sidewalks to ride a trike on. Parking is plentiful, although sometimes muddy. When you’re done playing, you can even take a short walk over to the Monroe Library!Swings
